一家硅谷创业公司推出了自称互联网最大的搜索引擎,其索引页面数量比谷歌大3倍。

Cuil公司表示,还开发出了一项技术,使索引所需的存储空间的处理能力,只是谷歌庞大的“服务器农场”所使用的一小部分。Cuil发音为“酷”,源自于盖尔语,意为“知识”。

Cuil公司创始人包括一对夫妻组合:汤姆·卡斯特罗(Tom Costello)和安娜·帕特森(Anna Patterson),分别担任首席执行官和总裁。

帕特森曾在谷歌担任大型搜索目录TeraGoogle的架构师,并负责一个网站排名小组。卡斯特罗帮助IBM构建了新型搜索引擎WebFountain。第三位创始人罗素·帕沃尔(Russell Power)曾负责谷歌TeraGoogle服务器的开发。

Tom Costello, CEO and Founder
Tom’s breakthroughs in search architecture and relevance methods are at the core of Cuill’s cool technology. Tom’s work in search began in 1999 when he created Xift, a revolutionary search engine that introduced automatic clustering and page analysis. Tom later joined IBM where he developed the prototype of WebFountain. After WebFountain, Tom managed IBM business projects. He was a member of IBM’s strategy team for Storage Systems Strategy worldwide and drove the development of the company’s Homeland Security Strategy. Tom has a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and was on the Research faculty there until 2000.

Anna Patterson, President and Founder
Anna was the architect of Google’s large search index, TeraGoogle, that launched in early 2006. While at Google, Anna was the technical lead of one of the two Web ranking groups at Google, in charge of GoogleBase, and the manager for the core piece of Google’s ad-matching technology. She joined Google in 2004 after designing, writing and selling Recall – the largest search engine in existence at the time at 12 billion pages. Anna has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Russell Power, Founder
Russell was technical lead for the serving part of TeraGoogle. While at Google, he spent two years working on Web ranking and on the automatic Spam detection project. Russell attended the University of Washington and is on leave there as a PhD candidate in computer science.

Louis Monier, VP of Products
Louis joined Cuill from Google, where he led the design of a faceted search engine. Previously, he led the design of a new search experience at eBay, rebuilding the company’s search engine and serving as the first eBay Fellow and director of its Advanced Technology Lab. Prior to eBay, Louis was the founding CTO of AltaVista and launched BabelFish, the first machine translation site. He has also led various algorithms and research projects at Digital WRL, Xerox PARC and Carnegie-Mellon University. Louis has a PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science from Paris Orsay University.

Vince Sollitto, VP of Communications
Vince was a spokesman for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, serving as chief deputy press secretary. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Corporate Communications and External Affairs at PayPal, where he directed public, investor and government relations from the launch of the company’s service, through an initial and secondary public offering, until its acquisition by eBay three years later. He also has served as communications director to a United States Senator, a Congressman, and the U.S. House Select Committee on Homeland Security. Vince has a BA in Public Policy Studies and Political Science from Duke University.

Pete Szymanski, General Counsel
Pete was formerly an attorney for seven years in the Silicon Valley office of Cooley Godward Kronish, LLP where he specialized in assisting emerging growth companies. Pete is also a cofounder of Optimaret, a technology company focused on optimizing auctions for pay-per-click search advertising and a member of the Board of Directors of Full Circle Fund, a philanthropy organization focused on driving environmental, educational, housing and technology change in the Bay Area. Pete received a JD from Duke University School of Law and an MBA and BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Bruce Baumgart, Head of Operations
Bruce was formerly at the Internet Archive and he helped design, build and run petabyte clusters in California, Amsterdam and Egypt. Previously at IBM Almaden Research Center he managed clusters for the WebFountain project. Bruce was the founder and CEO of Softix for 10 years, a global ticketing software business. Bruce worked on mass document storage at Xerox PARC, mobile robotics with Yaskawa and he participated on a DARPA challenge robot vehicle with Team Overbot. Bruce received a PhD from Stanford University in Computer Science for work at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab.

    不过 好象现在访问那网站样子完全开了
    之前打开的时候是一个介绍页面
    现在真成了 搜索引擎了
    试用了一些字 发现 中文的都没收录
